Costumer Evaluations
This is an excellent tiny cable tester for field techs who install LAN and coax cabling. It's straight forward - no fancy bells and whistles that aren't required. Unit is tiny, rugged, and hassle-free to spot in my toolbox. Metal belt clips on each unit are handy. Green/red/orange LED lights swiftly show if the Ethernet 1/two, three/6, 4/5, and 7/8 cable pairs are open, shorted, failed, crossed-over, or split. Will also confirm if your LAN cable is correctly shielded. LED lights on each ends is nice feature. Auto-OFF feature saves battery. Basic coax testing for checking if connectors are properly seated. Not low-priced, but a superior tool for the money.
I love this thing. Soon after too a lot of experiences troubleshooting phantom errors that had been just the inevitable bad crimp job, I bought this.
With this, you can run your CAT6 unterminated to get the fantastic length, terminate 1 end and connect the slave tester. Cut the other finish to length and terminate and then test. Depending on the certain error it provides you, you can reterminate or just give the crimper a tighter squeeze.
If you are undertaking advanced stuff and a plain pass/fail will not do, it even tells you which pairs are off, cross, open, brief, split.
Clarify to your corporation that this thing will pay for itself with the first negative connection that it catches (based on your bill rate)
It even does coax and comes with a bunch of dongles for very easy hookup.
Thoughts:
You don't have to have the optional case, given that this has clips, you will just clip it to your bag and be carried out with it.
I wish that it would test to see your prime bandwidth more than the line or one thing, but that is way pricey tech.
It ought to come with the 568-A and 568-B diagrams printed on the unit someplace, but does not. Make your own from a mailing label and stick it on.
